The Masters League
In other words, Over 50 League
The first annual Scripps Ranch Masters League was played in the
Winter of Y2K. What a way to end the millenium, or begin it depending
on whether you count with your toes. The Masters League is a politically
correct name for a bunch of old coots who've managed to turn 50
or more years of age and still love to play softball. This year's
first season saw four teams with managers: Reg Cauble, Ray Calhoun,
Ron Hoppenstand, and Don Blankenship. There was an open draw and
no core players so luck prevailed or didn't as the case may be
for each team.
So far, Don Blankenship's team has managed to win the first two,
2000 and 2001. But just wait 'til manager Steve Northcote turns
50. |
